In theory, you could buy a wand or a barcode reader that plugs in between your keyboard and your computer. The wand would pretend that you are typing the content of the barcodes on your keyboard. There are many kinds of barcode systems out there. You would have to make sure that select one that allows for variable length "words" and can handle lowercase letters. You would then need to make sure the wand you buy can handle the barcode system you chose. And then of course, you would have to create your sheet of "words" to scan. In practice, I would think that using barcodes to write SOAP notes works best in a hyper-specialized environment, where most of your clients have the same symptoms and your SOAP Notes can be composed by juxtaposing canned sentences in a "free form" text box. I don't think this system would work very well with WinCity Massage SOAP Notes. I'd love to be proven wrong though.
